Limited
Buxton, born 1966 (a vintage year by all
accounts), spent much of his youth reading books,
more specifically science fiction and the occult,
before discovering the personal computer. This
was to have a significant impact upon his life.
He started a Psychology Degree at the age of 18,
but switched to Computer Science after the first
year. Buxton found employment at the University
as a Computer Programmer, before later
progressing to a Liaison PR role and now manages
a team that provides E-Learning services, portals
and web-sites for education purposes.
He has presented a local BBC Radio phone-in for computer-based questions and, for a short period, had a column in a German TV magazine called Telesatellit. He also wrote an article on Satellite entertainment for a national magazine.
Approximately ten years ago, Buxton completed a City and Guilds course in Photography and developed a keen photography hobby, in the pre digital era. This prompted him to move on to drawing and painting classes. He learnt to paint in watercolours but switched to acrylics, preferring their flexibility. His style has developed at an astonishing rate since those watercolour classes to a point now where he is experimenting confidently and innovatively.
Gareth was a finalist in the Derbyshire Life Artist Of The Year competition in 2007 and is represented by several Derbyshire galleries, including The Little Gallery in Belper and Gallery-S in Matlock.
